I tried a new bubble tea spot in Toronto this month called Hey Sugar! in the heart of Yonge & Finch. As soon as you walk in you’ll see these trendy hanging chairs in front of a wall with a neon sign that says “Hey, sugar is sweet and so are you!”. If you’re walking down Yonge street, and you peek inside from the window outside, the wall alone I’m sure is enough to invite you inside.
Tea Review
Hey Sugar! Has branded themselves as a somewhat “healthier” bubble tea option in North York. Apparently, they make their own tapioca balls and they offer lower calories options for bubble tea.
I’ve been to Hey Sugar twice in the last month and I tried two of their teas.
The first drink I tried and absolutely LOVED was the Dirty Brown Sugar Bubble Tea. It’s a sweet drink, so if you don’t like sweet, then avoid. However, if you like sweet, you need to go with the Dirty Brown Sugar Bubble Tea option. Other than yummy, it’s hard to describe. It’s 100% worth trying, though. I give it a 10/10.
The second drink I tried was the Regular Bubble Tea. I really was not a fan of it. It’s okay, but nothing special.
It’s not that sweet, so if you like that, you’ll like this. You can also get large with this drink.
The Interior Design
Oh my gosh, this bubble tea cafe is so pretty! It’s big enough to sit comfortably for an hour or so. It has this bubble-themed design to it, with circular seating cushions, bubbles-encased-in-glass benches, and round hanging chairs.
The neon-lit quote gives the space a trendy and chic vibe. It’s a clean space that’s perfect for Instagram photos.
Ooh, and the tables have a marble look. It’s so nice, especially while you’re working.
Overall, Hey Sugar is a super cute spot for pretty decent bubble tea. Like most bubble tea spots, it’s open until very late at night.
