I’ve been to Forget Me Not Coffee a few times now—enough to know they know their way around a matcha (and not surprisingly a banana bread matcha latte). My first visit was way back in 2019, when I stopped by their Adelaide West location. It’s a charming little cafe with some buzz behind it—Shawn Mendes himself once called it his favourite coffee shop in Toronto. Naturally, I had a matcha, and it ended up making my Top 10 Matchas in Toronto list that year.
Last year, I visited their newer Ossington location. It’s nestled on one of the trendiest streets in the city, with a modern vibe that feels a bit more curated than its sister shop. I remember sipping on one of their seasonal drinks—sweet, inventive, and totally photogenic.
But today’s visit was all about one thing: their banana bread matcha latte. I’d seen it floating around online, and decided it was finally time to try it before attempting to make it at home (because, let’s be honest, my good matcha powder is sacred).
Spoiler: banana and matcha? Surprisingly dreamy.
Banana + matcha = a perfect pairing
There’s something about banana that just gets matcha. The way taro, strawberry, earl grey, and even mango can complement its earthiness—banana fits right in. It’s sweet, mellow, and smooth, rounding out the grassy notes without overpowering them. The drink at Forget Me Not is creamy, comforting, and just the right size at 10 oz. (That’s the only size they offer, by the way.) It includes dairy cream by default, so if you’re dairy-free, double check for alternatives.

If you’re curious about the trending banana bread matcha latte in Toronto, this one is worth the trip. It’s got a subtle banana flavour that doesn’t scream “smoothie,” and instead tastes like the matcha banana bread recipe you’ve been putting off making at home.
Aesthetic meets comfort—with a few caveats
The Ossington location is undeniably cute, with vintage-inspired touches, lots of natural light, and plenty of seating. But accessibility could be better—there are stairs leading up to the entrance, which isn’t ideal for everyone. If that’s a concern, the Adelaide West shop is the more accessible option.

Inside, the space is cozy, with couches, pillows, and rustic wooden tables. While that worn-in vibe adds character, it could definitely benefit from a deep clean. Some of the pillows and upholstery were visibly stained, which distracted a little from the otherwise inviting decor.
Still, the atmosphere feels laid-back, like a place where you could easily lose track of time over a warm drink and flaky croissant.
What’s on the menu (besides matcha magic)
Their menu offers a wide range of drinks—classic coffees, teas, and fun seasonal specials like the banana matcha. For food, they’ve got a small but tasty selection: three kinds of croissants (hello smoked cheddar, everything and butter croissant), a blueberry scone, banana bread, matcha cookies, and even a gluten-free option. They also serve two breakfast sandwiches if you’re looking for something heartier.

It’s not my top pick for a workday cafe—mostly because you have to pay for parking in the area—but it’s solid for a treat-yourself kind of visit. You can always count on a well-crafted drink and a good bite, without fighting through a long line (bless).
