Mango sticky rice drink in Toronto: the Chapayom order I keep coming back to

I think I found my favourite mango sticky rice drink in Toronto, and it is from Chapayom. The Thai café has two locations in the city, and their version tastes shockingly close to the actual dessert.

Last summer, I was drinking mango sticky rice with matcha from Pilot Coffee Roasters. This summer, I have been going back to Chapayom’s version enough times that it has basically become a seasonal ritual.

Why this mango sticky rice drink in Toronto is so good

The mango hits first, and it is rich, sweet and properly flavourful instead of watered down. Then you get the rice, which is the part that makes this drink so ridiculously good.

You can actually taste little pieces of cooked rice blended into the drink, along with a creamy layer that you shake together before sipping. It feels less like a mango smoothie inspired by sticky rice and more like someone genuinely turned mango sticky rice into a drink.

That texture is what keeps pulling me back. Apparently my summer hobby is now drinking rice through a straw.

Why I keep ordering it

Chapayom makes other drinks, including Thai tea, but I keep returning to the mango sticky rice. I love cafés that find one thing they do extremely well, and for me, this is the order.

It is rich enough that I think of it more as a dessert drink than something casual. If you already love mango sticky rice, this is absolutely worth trying.

Now I need to make it at home

The problem is that I now want to recreate it, and I have no idea how to get the texture right. I need to figure this out expeditiously.

I also want to make a protein version without losing the mango, coconut and rice combination that makes it so good. If I manage that, I may have officially levelled up as a human being.

Is Chapayom’s mango sticky rice drink worth it?

Yes, especially if you want a cold summer drink that actually tastes like the dessert that inspired it. The mango is strong, the rice gives it real texture, and the whole thing is rich without feeling like a generic smoothie.

Mostly, I need more people to order it because I need Chapayom to keep making it. This review is also, admittedly, a small preservation campaign for my current favourite summer drink.
