Is it technically healthy to reward yourself with a creamy, dreamy latte from Kream Cafe? Probably not. Do I care? Also no.
Because the truth is, trying a new matcha or latte at a local cafe like Kream Cafe instantly lifts my mood. It’s like hitting a reset button on a rough day. One of my not-so-secret goals is to sip my way through all the popular cafes in Toronto. Spoiler alert: I never catch up. The cafe scene here is a living, breathing thing—always evolving, always growing. Just when I think I’ve ticked a spot off my list, five new ones open with neon signs and banana-themed drinks.
If you’re a cafe lover looking for your next travel destination, let me say this: Toronto cafe culture is unmatched.
Toronto is a cafe lover’s paradise
Think Korean dessert cafes, Japanese minimalist hideouts, Vietnamese iced coffee bars, and even Lisbon-inspired espresso nooks. We’ve got Aussie cafes that make you feel like you’re brunching in Melbourne and moody, artsy spaces with names like Gateau Ghost and 18Feet. I’m currently manifesting a Jamaican Blue Mountain cafe.
The city isn’t just about caffeine—it’s about the vibe. The creativity. The endless combinations of milk, matcha, espresso, and croissants. One minute you’re sipping a matcha with blueberry compote; the next, you’re contemplating the meaning of life over the most complex latte art.
The banana pudding matcha latte you didn’t know you needed
My most recent stop? Kream Cafe, which is now in an unofficial but very real battle with Forget Me Not Cafe for the title of best banana matcha latte in the city. (Yes, that’s a thing now. Toronto said so.)

If you haven’t tried a banana matcha latte yet, are you even on social media? Kidding. Kind of.
Kream’s take is called the banana pudding matcha, and it leans into that name hard. The banana layer has a rich, pudding-like texture that takes the drink from basic to basically divine.

It’s more generous in size and flavour than its rival, with matcha that tastes properly grassy—not too sweet, not too faint. You can stir it all together and sip with a straw, or grab a spoon and start with dessert.

A quick stop worth making
Kream Cafe is tucked near Grosvenor Street and Yonge, directly across from Wellesley station. It’s a small space with no seating—definitely a grab-and-go type of joint. Think pit stop with pastries.

And oh, the pastries. Cube croissants in wild flavours. Honey butter croissants inspired by Korean snack trends. Cookies and cake slices in matcha, taro and more.

Their drink menu is eclectic and exciting—highlighting banana pudding lattes, strawberry matcha creations, and even einspanners (for the real coffee nerds).

Aesthetically, it’s giving neutral tones and calm vibes, with a touch of green thanks to a few well-placed plants.

Final thoughts
Kream Cafe is the kind of spot that reflects everything I love about Toronto cafe culture. It’s creative, fun, always trying something new. If you love a good latte but want to go beyond the usual suspects, this little corner of the city is worth a detour.
You’ll leave caffeinated, inspired, and possibly with a cube croissant in your tote bag. Honestly? That’s what I call balance.
