It felt like this summer was full of so many activities. It felt like a true escape. While I haven’t been as focused on my career or hobbies as I’d like, I usually put my head down, spend more time alone, and get to work in the fall/winter season. So while I still plan to be more productive this season, I want to ensure I make time for fun by creating a fall bucket list for 2022.
The days are darker, cloudier, and colder in Toronto this time of year. It’s easy to get depressed and sleep the months away until Spring comes back. In order to reduce my…uh…relapses as much as possible this year, I’m choosing to do the things that make me joyful instead of saying I’m going to do them and never doing them.
There’s no way I’m getting everything done on this list, but I want a roadmap to a successful Autumn, and that looks like what’s on this fall bucket list for 2022. Hopefully, this inspires you to make your own list, set a vibe for the season and take the time to do all the things on it.
Cultivating a Vibe
1. Make a Fall Playlist
My first task will be to make a cozy, nostalgic fall playlist. I already know this fall will be filled with new music from BlackPink and One OK Rock.
Listening to these groups during the fall on a car ride will be a core memory of mine one day.
2. Drink Pumpkin-Flavoured Lattes
Whether it’s an iced or hot pumpkin spice latte, iced chai with pumpkin sweet cream foam or a pumpkin cold brew from Starbucks, pumpkin-flavoured drinks is a must. Since I want to eat at home more and spend less money eating out, I’ll be buying Silk or Starbucks Pumpkin Coffee Creamer to add to my matcha lattes and hot chai drinks. I might get the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte packets from my local grocery store once a week if I feel like treating myself to caffeine.
3. Read a Slightly Spooky Book
I wish I was more of a reader like I used to be. Neither fiction nor non-fiction captivates me like they used to. I have a shorter attention span and a lower tolerance. Perhaps, social media is to blame for that. However, I also have high expectations for the books I read, just like I do for the shows I watch.
I want the same thing I’ve enjoyed in the past, but totally different. I want to be completely sucked into a book, and I feel like Fall is a good time for that. I started reading Lore Olympus, a webtoon in its paperback form, and the third book is coming out in early October. While I’d love to be someone who can calmly wait for future paperbacks, I’m not. So I started reading Lore Olympus on the Webtoon app, and I’m looking forward to Saturday updates.
4. Change Nanoleaf Scenes to Autumnal Vibes
I love turning on the salt lamp and making my Nanoleaf playlist all orange, red, and yellow. Let me know what your favourite scenes are if you have these lights too.
5. Wear the By the Fireplace perfume & a Chai scented lotion
Replica’s scent, “By the Fireplace” smells like FALL in a bottle. It lingers on you all day and is worth it. Secondary to that, only IF you find it on sale, is the Desert Essence Spicy Chai lotion. Or the Bath & Body Works White Pumpkin Chai lotion, or the Hempz Pumpkin Spice & Chai lotion. If you want to smell like a cozy fireplace with hints of chai and pumpkin pie, this is the scent combo for you.
6. Change Your Desktop Wallpaper to a Fall Theme
A desktop wallpaper is like room decor. Wallpaper Engine on Steam on my PC has beautiful animated wallpapers that I love.
7. Eat a Pumpkin Pie
If there’s a Thanksgiving family gathering this year, I’m bringing one of those Whole Foods Pumpkin Pies or Apple Pies. That will be my offering.
Changing My Environment
8. Light a New Candle or Add Autumnal Room Scents
I just bought a candle at Fan Expo that isn’t fall-themed, but any candle works. I happen to have a lot of fall candles. And well, a lot of candles in general with Mala the Brand candles being some of my favourite soy, pet-friendly candles.
9. Buy 1-2 Fall-Themed Decor Items
My dream is to walk into HomeSense with a large Pumpkin Spice Latte in hand and pick out a pumpkin plush for my bed and another fall-themed decor item for years to come.
10. Buy the AirWick Pumpkin Spice or Apple Cinnamon Scents
With Fall comes fall-themed everything and businesses take advantage of that. I’d like to try AirWick’s pumpkin spice or apple cinnamon wall plug scents if I see them on sale.
Fall Anticipations
11. Host a Netflix Party for Cang Lan Jue with Friends
I’m thrilled that my favourite drama of the year is coming to Netflix Canada on Friday, September 9th, 2022 and I can show some friends why I’ve raved about this show so much.
12. Listen to the New ONE OK ROCK Album
One OK Rock’s new album Luxury Disease will be released on September 9th, 2022, ahead of their North American tour this year. I’m looking forward to listening to all the songs uninterrupted on car rides and while working until I get sick of it.
13. Listen to the New BLACKPINK Album
On September 16, BlackPink’s 2nd album, Born Pink, comes out. I don’t really like their music, but I like them as people, especially after watching their documentary and reality show in 2021. So I think it’d be cool to see them in concert, listen to their new album, and learn a dance to one of their songs.
14. Immerse Yourself in an Incredible New Show
After watching Cang Lan Jue, I am anticipating that the other dramas on my list for 2022 will be worth watching as well. My next IT drama will either be The Longest Promise or She and Her Perfect Husband. Let’s see! Also on my list: Love in Contract, First Love Hatsukoi, Wednesday, The Dragon Prince, Cobra Kai, Disenchanted, Percy Jackson & The Olympians, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
New Goals
15. Start Digital Planning Again
The act of writing down my specific intentions for the week in a weekly planner helps me stay focused on the big picture. Since I’ve never found a planner that does exactly what I need, I’m going to make my own digital planner and sell it on Etsy this fall.
16. Create Character Bios for My 2 WIP Books
I’m writing a dystopian fantasy and a contemporary romance. The two are so different, but I need to start and one of the ways I do that is to (1) brainstorm, but also (2) devise character bios and figure out names and likes and dislikes of my characters so they feel real to me. On my Etsy and my blog’s shop (launching soon), I’ll share Scrivener and Goodnotes templates for novelists to plan characters.
17. Complete Video Games & Start New Ones
In Genshin Impact, I’m excited to finish Archon quests and explore more of Sumeru. It’s also going to be fun to play Stray, the Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance game, and maybe Cozy Grove too.
Activities
18. Attend the Fall Equinox Skate Party
SEPTEMBER 21, 2022
Even though I don’t celebrate September 22nd, I’d love to go rollerskating one last time this fall at the SUSO Fall Skate party this month, so I’ll definitely make that a goal, and invite others too.
19. Start Figure Skating Classes Weekly
As fall approaches, I’m also getting ready for skating season. I hope to be able to ice skate almost every day for an hour when winter comes. Especially since my city has free indoor and outdoor skating only in the winter. In the meantime, I’ll work with a coach on developing my skills and technique so I can practice more intensely come Winter when I skate on free ice time alone.
20. Attend Tricking Classes
Tricking is so outside of my comfort zone that I think it’ll be fun to do regardless. I’ve been to one tricking class already, and my body was sore for 3 days and I could barely move. But I think it’s worth it to try something completely different, especially since it incorporates my Taekwondo experience and could be useful in the future.
21. Attend Nuit Blanche 2022
OCTOBER 2, 2022
I don’t really care about Nuit Blanche, which is an arts festival in Toronto, that takes place at night, but it gives me an excuse to hang out with friends. In this year’s Nuit Blanche, there will be exhibits in North York, so it’d be cool to check it out.
22. Attend the ONE OK ROCK Concert
OCTOBER 4, 2022
This has been on my mind for MONTHS now. The countdown begins! I purchased the VIP experience so I’m curious as to how that will play out. I hope I can meet them and get them to sign some stuff. I’d love to end the night with some Flamin’ Hot Cheetos (a post-concert ritual for me) or eat at Ramen Isshin before the concert. It’s still unclear what will happen, but I’m looking forward to more details about the VIP experience so I can prepare. Additionally, I need concert merchandise from the tour to wear when I skate this winter, like a beanie or a hoodie. It’s essential!
23. See BLACKPINK in Concert
NOVEMBER 7, 2022
Also on my fall bucket list for 2022 is the BlackPink concert. They’re coming to my province this year, and I haven’t seen a K-pop concert in forever. All I want is a cute photo with a lightstick and to see my girls kill it on stage.
24. Host a Twilight Rewatch Party
It would be awesome to do a Twilight movie marathon with a group of friends to roast the movies to pieces. I never hate-watch, but I want to with Twilight. Popcorn and a Twilight marathon sound like fun.
25. Attend the Poutine Festival
I like poutine, and I used to love it growing up, but finding authentic poutine is a challenge these days. I’d like to check out Poutine Fest to see what restaurants are really the most delicious in the city.
26. Take a K-Pop Dance Class at Vybe
I have one class credit that I need to use and since I didn’t go this summer, I’m hoping to attend a class where BlackPink choreography is taught. Perhaps on a Thursday!
27. Go to an Apple Farm & Bake Apple Crumble
I’m pretty proficient at making apple crumble, but I’d love to go apple picking and get fresh apples. Or at least get some fresh apples at my local farmer’s market. I could make it and serve it with Grapenut ice cream on the side.
28. Participate in Howl-o-Ween
My local park is hosting a dog event where you dress up your pet and a photographer takes pictures. Yeah, I’d love to dress Noah up for this event in a silly costume from HomeSense. I think this is a unique addition to any fall bucket list for 2022 if you’re a dog owner.
29. Watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on Premiere Weekend
It’d be cool to do a VIP movie theatre experience at Yonge & Eglinton and watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
30. Go to a Pumpkin Patch for a Photoshoot
Maybe I’ll do a fall-themed photoshoot at a pumpkin patch next year, but I don’t know if it’ll work logistically this year.
31. Go on a Fall Hike
Towards the end of October, when all the leaves are changing colours, I’d love to go for a nature walk with my dog and finally cross that off my fall bucket list for 2022.
