I’m excited about a lot of things on this Spring 2023 bucket list. After all, Spring is a time of renewal. A reset. Persephone has entered her glory. Hints of summer start to sprinkle in. The smell of fresh morning dew permeates the air. The early morning chirps of birds returning from hibernation wake you up. Sprouts of green peek up from thawing branches where they’ve been hiding all winter long.
It’s a time for newness in every aspect of our lives, and as I’ve grown older, I’ve learned to appreciate Spring more and more. I love that in Japan, Spring is a huge deal and the sakura flower is everywhere to celebrate the renewal of Spring with shades of fuchsia and pink.
In the same vein, when it comes to romanticizing Spring, I take it seriously too. Very seriously. Hence, the Spring 2023 bucket list.
Spring represents a lot of my personality, maybe more so than fall or summer. This could be because Spring is a mixture of both of those seasons.
It’s the end of dark evenings and the beginning of long, sunny days. And when it’s warmer, you want to and you can do so much more with your life.
Cultivating a Vibe
1. Make a Spring Vibes Playlist
I’m in need of a serious playlist refresh. I’ve decided to change my music taste lately to be more “Godly”. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not letting go of my love for ONE OK ROCK or other tracks anytime soon. But, I’m definitely filtering out music that has a negative impact on my thoughts and emotions. The vibe for my go-to Spring playlist this year, which I can play on car rides or skate to, will be reminiscent of my favourite tracks from C-dramas to enchanting tunes from top Christian artists like Kim-Walker Smith. The song, “Protector” is definitely one of my favourites.
2. Burn My “Dawn of the First Day” Candle
I’ve already started burning the Dawn of the First Day candle that I picked up at Fan Expo Canada last year from a local vendor. I love the scent. It’s difficult to describe but it smells nostalgic and homey. A lot like summer – sweet and comforting.
3. Change Nanoleaf Scenes to Forest & Sakura Themes
Currently, I have my Nanoleaf scenes set to a timer to change the theme every hour. I’d love to do a playlist of forest greens and pink colours that remind me of cherry blossoms.
4. Wear Sailing Day Perfume & Coconut Coffee Lotion
I’ve always wanted to try the Sailing Day perfume after I got a whiff of it at a neon light skate party last summer. This was from someone who skated past me. I really liked the light, summer scent, and thought it’d be nice to transition to in the spring. Especially if it’s on sale at Sephora for the annual Spring sale. And, I’ve been wearing the Coconut Coffee lotion from Organix and it smells so delicious. I love the scent and richness of the cream, especially after I layer it on top of the Niacinamide wash from Olay.
6. Change iPad Wallpaper to a Spring Theme
I didn’t waste any time updating the wallpaper on my iPad to a photo of Uncle Iroh holding a bubble tea drink in front of a cherry blossom tree. I can’t remember who the artist is, but it’s such a cute wallpaper.
7. Deep Clean House & Car
This is something I’m most excited about on this list. It’s to get some semblance of control back in my life again, and deep scrub every inch of my house. I also need to deep-clean my car, digital space and my dog, Noah, too. Overall, I’m chasing that clean and organized feeling.
8. Buy the Airwick Spring Scents
To make my house smell extra pleasant, I want to buy the fruity Spring-scented Airwick wall plug-ins to make the house feel extra clean and ready for visitors.
Spring 2023 Bucket List Anticipations
9. Daylight Savings Times
Finally, lighter evenings. I’m still waiting for the mornings to get brighter, too. However, knowing it’s not pitch black outside at 4 PM is a serious serotonin boost.
10. Watch Captivating Shows & Movies
From marathoning The Ten Commandments to FINALLY watching Till the End of the Moon, I’m so excited to break this drought of shows and movies. I need something to dive into to be inspired and escape reality for a bit. Till the End of the Moon airs on April 6th and it’s been high on my anticipation list for a while now. The Ten Commandments is the perfect movie to watch over the Easter weekend.
Following that, I really want to watch Air: Courting a Legend. I’m not sure if the Super Mario Movie is worth watching in the theatre, but that’s a possibility too. Later towards the end of the Spring are the releases of The Little Mermaid (which I’m definitely gathering the girls to watch), Fast X, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Elemental (which I think might be a cute movie, that is so obviously inspired by reverse Zutara).
11. Read a Lot of Books
I’ve been on my Libby grind lately, and have been renting out books from the Toronto Public Library at an excessive rate. I’m not a fast reader, so there’s no way I’ll finish all these books by their due dates. However, it’s a pleasure to try new books without paying for them.
12. Host a Sakura / Cherry Blossom Photoshoot at 2-3 Parks in the City
Okay, I’m really excited to make a list of parks to spot cherry blossoms and bring a few models with me and snap photos of them. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. I’m excited about using my Sony AIII camera more and adding photos to my portfolio, so I can attract more quality leads.
13. Celebrate Birthdays
There are so many birthdays this spring and I’m excited to get creative with my gift ideas and celebrate them. I really wanna do a Monography photoshoot with my friends. I think that’s a special and cost-effective gift idea that people can remember forever. I’m also hoping to visit my cousin and 103-year-old Grandma to celebrate their birthdays.
14. Host a BBQ
I’m looking forward to hosting a BBQ in spring for friends and family. I really want to try making honey salmon bites on the barbecue.
15. Do Something Fun on Victoria’s Day
I don’t know what it’s gonna be but I definitely want to have a fun Victoria’s Day.
16. Make the Most Stunning Cosplay Video I’ve Ever Made
This is something I’m super excited about. I’ve spent the last few years dreaming of upgrading my gear to a better camera, lens, and gimbal, and I have finally done it. I can finally put my skills to the test and capture beautiful cosplay at Anime North and other conventions this summer. I can also practice making videos that showcase my skills.
17. Try a New Protein Powder
I’ve always wanted to try the BEAM Vanilla Protein Powder or the Ritual Protein Powder since I’ve heard they’re really tasty and plant-based. I’m currently finishing the Whey Birthday Cake Protein Powder by Alani Nu, which is tasty, but made from whey and not dairy-free.
18. Make Onigiri
I keep procrastinating about making onigiri, also known as rice balls, but I’m gonna do it and it’s gonna be delicious.
19. Have Dinner on a Patio
I can’t remember the last time I had dinner at a restaurant on a patio. I wanna do that before the bees come out to play, so in mid-spring!
New Goals to Tackle on My Spring 2023 Bucket List
20. Spend More Time with God in Prayer – Cry Less
This is a huge deal since I’ve been crying a lot lately. I’m struggling through a major transitional period in my life, and the tears are uncontrollable now. I haven’t cried in so long, and have bottled so many emotions in, but now they’re coming out.
So, one thing that helps is communing with God and spending more time with him. I picked up the Discerning the Voice of God bible study book by Priscilla Shirer and it’s really helpful so far. On top of that, I started reading Surrender Your Story by Tara Sun which is a book on trusting God. And, I’m still reading my daily devotional and prayer.
21. Stick to 75 Soft & My Gym Routine
I had some failures during the 75 Soft Challenge, but I’m now on week three (update: I restarted the challenge on April 16th). I’ve pushed myself to do things I would typically avoid if I weren’t on this challenge.
22. A Social Media Detox
I started detoxing from social media in February and want to continue. I find that the more social media I consume, the less I create and appreciate my life. I want to live a life free from social media consumption, while still producing it.
23. Start Publishing Videos (and Maybe a Podcast) on My YouTube Channels
This would be a huge milestone for me. I need to express myself somehow. I’m going stir-crazy in my room, and I feel like an online community to share the ups and downs of building a creative career would be really encouraging to have. Hence the podcast idea. My current working podcast name is Dear Future Creator.
24. Learn About Wedding Videography, Photography & Animatic Editing
This is a huge one I must do at this time of my life. As I said, I’m in a transitional period. I would be mad at myself if I didn’t use this time to make myself an indispensable asset and talent in my career. I wanna learn as much as possible about the gear I’ve purchased, wedding videography and engagement shoot photography for my new business Agape Love Films and animatic editing.
25. Learn How to Use My Drone & Gimbals
I really need to learn how to use my recently acquired DJI Mini 2 drone and DJI RSC 2 gimbal. This will enable me to maximize my videos and create beautiful, cinematic work that I can use to build an irresistible portfolio. That may or may not include attending drone school and getting my drone license.
26. Buy Brocade Fabric to Enhance Zutara Cosplay
So I ordered these Zuko and Katara costumes from AliExpress which may or may not be bad quality. I’ll find out at the end of April.
But, I’m excited to add my enhancements to make the costumes more authentic. I want to add golden brocade, burgundy brocade, and black brocade to the costumes so that they look richer and more elegant.
27. Start Standing at My Desk
I have a standing desk from EFFYDESK that I just sit at. That’s a big fail since standing at a desk is supposedly healthier for you. I really need to start standing at my desk and see if I can get used to it this spring.
28. Relearn Taekwondo Poomsae
Oh, this would be a big win! Before I return to Taekwondo classes, I promised myself I would relearn all the poomsae. So, I hope I can start working on that.
29. Launch Agape Love Films Website & Instagram
I’ve always wanted to launch an elegant, boutique wedding videography & engagement photography business. I just need to build my portfolio to attract the right clients.

There’s a newly opened rollerskating rink in town called Rollerpony. They officially opened their doors last month, and I haven’t checked it out yet, but I really want to.
38. Attend Anime North as a Panelist
MAY 26 – MAY 28, 2023
It’s confirmed! I’ll be a panellist for the Avatar: The Last Airbender & Legend of Korra Panel at Anime North 2023. The goal is to cosplay as Katara with my co-cosplayer Zuko. I’ll also host the A:TLA Photoshoot this year, and I’ll make a cosplay music video. One thing I’m looking forward to this year is dining at Ginko Japanese Restaurant with friends again this year.
39. Attend the Victorious Concert

I’m not the biggest LECRAE fan but I do like Chris Tomlin. I’m thrilled to see Chris live in concert and I look forward to seeing a really enjoyable set.
40. Go on a Hike with my Dog
It’s on my Spring 2023 bucket list to embark on more scenic walks and hikes with my dog. If it means driving outside the GTA, I wanna do it.
41. Rooftop Rollerskating at SUSO Skate
JUNE 1, 2023
Last year, rooftop roller skating with SUSO Skate was such a vibe and I’m so down to doing that again this year. With the sunsets and everything.
42. Check Out Cafes & Restaurants
I wanna check out more cafes and restaurants like Midori Ramen, Paris Baguette and Pizzeria Libretto. And I’ll blog about them!
43. Go on a Bike Ride
I have a bike I haven’t ridden in a long time. I really want to embark on park bike rides with my dad and friends this spring and summer.
44. Go to Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada or AGO
This could be a fun date idea, but it’s not an absolute must on my spring 2023 bucket list.
