The amount of times I put pressure for everything I put out online to be perfect is not healthy. Unfortunately, all this leads to is inaction. There’s a lot of planned and wishful talking but not a lot of acting. I’m tired of it, and I think you should be too.
We’re told by grind masters like Gary Vaynerchuck that we need to be pulling 18-48 hour days over the course of 4 to 10 years to succeed at anything we do. I believe that’s unnecessary. This is straight hustle, and unfortunately it leads to burn out and eventually, health issues (i.e. heart attacks or adrenal fatigue).
We need the grace that only comes from God to fill in the gaps we’re missing. When He calls, we need to listen only to Him. When He leads, we need to only be led by Him. When He pulls us gently into a direction for a specific period of time, we need to remain in that moment for that period of time.
When there’s hustle, there are gaps. We’re human, so naturally, we won’t be able to be “on” 24/7 or more hours. God will work for us during those gaps and turn those 8 or 12 hour work days into 16 to 24 hour work days with His power alone. How?
Faith. When we give our business, career or anything to God, he will fill in the gaps.
So yes, girl, go take that bootcamp or coaching call if you’re in a season of planning and reconfiguration. Or, allow yourself to let go of perfection by being spontaneous. The act of spontaneity allows us to be actionable. It allows us to give perfectly imperfect gifts to the world.
These gifts may break the rules, but we need to give them anyways. We don’t always have to follow the rules of SEO. We need to deliver the content that breaks the rules to maintain our sanity and allow us to get into the rhythm of creating.
Now, that’s a whole other post for a different time, so remind me to write one about breaking the rules of creating “successful” content another day.
