If you are exploring Korean cafés in Toronto, one place you will probably hear about is Coffee Lunar. And honestly, it deserves the attention.
Before we start though, I should warn you about something. For the next little while this blog is going to have a lot of café content.
I have visited so many cafés over the past year that I am now slightly behind on writing about them. Apparently my hobby is drinking matcha and then forgetting to write about it.
Maybe nobody in my personal life wants to hear detailed opinions about matcha ratios and espresso drinks. But if you are reading this, I am going to assume you are exactly my kind of person.
So let’s talk about Coffee Lunar.
Why Korean cafés are having a moment
One thing I have noticed while exploring Toronto is how many Korean-style cafés are opening across the city. Every time I think I have tried them all, another one appears.
From what I have seen online, café culture in South Korea is on another level. Themed cafés, creative drinks, extremely aesthetic interiors… it honestly makes me want to visit Korea purely for the café scene.

Toronto does not quite have the wild themed cafés yet. But the Korean cafés here definitely bring the design and the creativity.
Coffee Lunar is a good example of that.
The Bloor location
The first time I visited Coffee Lunar was at their Bloor Street location. The space itself is pretty small.
The seating layout is also slightly awkward. It is not really the type of café where you settle in comfortably for four hours pretending to work.
But it worked perfectly for catching up with a friend. At the time she was engaged.

She is now married. Which tells you how long this blog post has been sitting in my drafts.
I ordered a matcha latte and a matcha cookie. My friend ordered one of their specialty coffee drinks.

The matcha cookie was excellent. The matcha latte was decent, but not something that kept me thinking about it later.

The coffee, however, surprised me. I took one sip and immediately thought, okay… someone here actually knows what they’re doing.
The North York location
Later on, I visited their North York location near Yonge and Finch. This location is much larger.
The layout feels more open and relaxed. It is definitely easier to sit there for a while.
There is free WiFi as well. You could realistically get some work done there if you needed to.
The seating is not the most ergonomic thing I have ever experienced. But compared to the Bloor location, it is a major upgrade.
The Drop series drinks
One of the more interesting things on the menu is something called the Drop series. These drinks are built a little differently from typical lattes.
Instead of drowning everything in milk, they use more concentrated bases. This means the flavours actually show up.
The Matcha Drop includes matcha concentrate, chilled water, house-made vanilla bean syrup, and a silky cream topping. It is finished with dried edible flowers.

Because there is less milk, the matcha flavour is stronger. As someone who notices matcha ratios immediately, I respected that.
And yes, the condensed milk in the cream is very noticeable. In a good way.
The Vanilla Drop Latte

The drink that stood out the most to me was the Vanilla Drop Latte. It combines double espresso with chilled milk and house-made vanilla bean syrup.
It is topped with silky cream that includes condensed milk and a little golden sugar. Somehow it manages to be sweet without becoming a full dessert situation.
Some café drinks feel like cake disguised as coffee. This one still felt like coffee.
Both the matcha drinks and the Vanilla Drop Latte stood out to me. Which tells me someone behind that counter is actually thinking about flavour instead of just making things that photograph well.
Food options
The North York location also offers a few food options. When I visited with another friend, she ordered their kale salad.
I did not hear any complaints. Which in café terms usually means it was good.

They also offer things like mashed egg sandwiches and light café foods. It is not a huge menu, but it works if you want something small while chatting.
Is Coffee Lunar worth visiting?
If you are exploring aesthetic cafés across the city, this Coffee Lunar Toronto review will hopefully make you want to stop by at least once.
The Bloor location works best for quick visits. The North York location is better if you want to sit and stay a little longer.
The matcha is solid. But the coffee and the Drop series drinks are really where Coffee Lunar shows its personality.
And if you enjoy discovering drinks that feel a little different from the usual latte lineup, this is a fun stop.
