Let’s be honest—summer in Canada feels like a reward. After months of bitter cold, grey skies, and snowdrifts that practically swallow sidewalks, the first warm breeze is magic. This year, my Canadian summer bucket list looks a little different.
It’s not about chasing rest—because truthfully, I’m busy. Between photographing families under the golden sun and settling into our first home, life is full. But it’s also beautiful. In the midst of it all, I’m carving out space for the little joys—the ones that make a season unforgettable.
Here’s what’s on my Canadian summer bucket list this year.
1. Tiptoeing through lavender fields

After years of daydreaming, I’m finally gonna try my best to visit a lavender farm. I picture soft purple rows, locally made lavender treats, and dreamy photos captured between the blooms. My husband may or may not be roped in as my unofficial photographer. Priorities.
2. Discovering Ontario’s best beaches
Growing up in Toronto meant Woodbine and Sugar Beach were childhood staples, but I’ve got my eyes on new sandy horizons. I’ve heard nothing but love for Sauble and Cobourg Beach—two gems I’ve somehow never visited.

I want early mornings watching the sunrise and late evenings chasing the sunset. Ideally, I’d spend time near water at least once a week. There’s something so healing about the mix of heat, sand, and waves. I’m ready for all of it.
3. Escaping somewhere—anywhere
Whether it’s a weekend in NYC or an island escape, I’m craving travel that energizes me. Good coffee, bookstore wanders, and a few new memories—my kind of therapy.
4. Slow walks and quiet mornings in nature
Once we move into our new home, I’d like to explore the area one quiet dog walk or bike ride at a time. Slow strolls, lake visits, and unhurried mornings where movement meets mindfulness.

5. Skating indoors while the sun blazes outside
There’s a rink just 13 minutes away, open most days—a first for me. I’m embracing summer skating as a way to reset, cool off, and nourish my mental health. It’s a simple joy that feels surprisingly sacred.
6. Weekly pan jerk pork runs
Before I met my husband, I didn’t know what jerk pork was. Now? I consider myself a loyal fan. Our go-to pan jerk spot Nicey’s hits every time, and I’d love to turn our casual visits into a full-on summer ritual. Once a week, minimum.

7. Dancing at summer weddings
As friends and family start tying the knot, my summer calendar includes these types of celebrations. I love weddings—the love, the music, the outfits, the cake. I’m just excited to be there, watching people I care about step into a new chapter.
8. A Winnie the Pooh birthday bash
Thanks to Disney World, my love for Winnie the Pooh is officially back in full swing. This summer, I want my birthday to be low-key but on-theme: pastel yellow and pink decorations, a Pooh-inspired cake, balloons, and maybe even a themed dress. Bonus—it usually turns into a family BBQ reunion. Two celebrations in one.
9. Getting creative in the kitchen (and with ice cream)
This is the summer I master the Ninja Creami. I’ve been saving it for warmer weather, and now it’s time. I’ve got Boba Protein powders in jasmine, taro, and matcha flavours—and dreams of turning them into high-protein ice cream creations. Last time I tried, I made a mess. This time? Redemption.
I’m also on a mission to recreate mango sago, but healthier. A little kitchen alchemy never hurt anyone.
The season that’s full—and fulfilling
My Canadian summer bucket list isn’t about doing more—it’s about noticing more. This summer holds new rhythms: home ownership, long walks, photo sessions, skating breaks, and the sweet simplicity of staying present.
Busy? Yes.
Grateful? Absolutely.
Living it fully, one moment at a time? That’s the plan.
