BlackPink in your area! My vision board for 2022 had a photo of a girl at a BTS concert. A few months after making that vision board, BTS announced they were going on hiatus. However, I was determined to go to a K-pop concert this year and hold up a lightstick and take an arena photo, and boy did I at the Born Pink Hamilton Tour in 2022.
Why I Like BlackPink
Let me start by explaining why I like BlackPink. Although LALISA by Lisa always hits and Shut Down is an undeniable banger from their new album, I don’t like BlackPink’s music. In 2021, I viewed their Light Up the Sky documentary on Netflix, and it really resonated with me. After watching the documentary, I watched their reality show on YouTube, and their personalities made me appreciate their music more.
I knew I had to attend when they announced tickets in the summer. As I wouldn’t pay more than $200, I got bleeder seats, which were quite far from the stage. The camera didn’t pick up anything, so I won’t be doing bleeder seats again.
What I Wore to the Concert
My outfit plans were one of the things I was most excited about for the concert. I actually regret buying these pink shoes since I don’t know when I’ll wear them again. But they were part of the outfit. But they were also really uncomfortable and difficult to walk in. It would be a wise idea to sell them.
My black skirt from Dolls Kill was also a failure. Maybe I’ll sell these two items at Anime North if I find someone to share a table with since I hate how boxy this skirt fits. It’s not flattering.
However, I made the outfit work and got a lot of compliments.
I hitched a ride to Hamilton for the concert, and as we got closer to the venue, people started pouring in. I’ve never seen so many people in a concert hall. Thousands of people were there.
Tips for Buying Tour Merchandise
Most of the lines outside the venue before the concert were to buy BlackPink merchandise, which was actually pretty cute. But I heard the most convenient time to buy merchandise is actually during the concert, during a band or dance break, which is exactly what I did. I got an oversized hoodie with the tour dates on it.
BlackPink Lightstick 2.0 Review
I’m glad I got the lightstick for the photos at the Born Pink Tour in Hamilton, but it didn’t sync up with any of the songs at the concert, which was disappointing. Although I bought it online, they sold light sticks at the concert.
Overall, I really enjoyed Yeah Yeah Yeah, Hard to Love, On the Ground, You & Me, and Pretty Savage. And the production team nailed it – like a light show, with top-notch sets. Plus, it was a really long concert, like two hours, so I guess that’s why it was so expensive.
Have you ever been to a K-pop concert? This is my fourth concert (I've seen NU’EST, BIGBANG and Amber Liu live). If you haven’t, which K-pop group would you love to see live?
