It’s another year, another Anime North haul. This year, I did some damage in the dealer’s room and artist alley. I didn’t get anything in 2019. But I guess I had to make up for the lost time in 2022 with some serious shopping.
Apparel
I’ve been wanting to delve deeper into the Sakura aesthetic since I launched The Sakura Skater on Instagram and TikTok. On Instagram and Etsy, I’ve seen embroidered berets like this, but with shipping, the prices were astronomical. Even though this Sakura beret is quite expensive, I’m excited to wear it this fall and winter.
Mini Art Prints
One of my goals this year was to buy more mini art prints at conventions. I recently joined the Genshin Impact fandom, so getting some of these prints was a no-brainer. I got an art print of Xiao, Zhongli, Hu Tao and Xinyan. On my character roster, I have Xiao and Xinyan, but I don’t have Zhongli or Hu Tao, which I’d like to add.
Keychains
I’m a keychain weeb. Clickity clacking my way through the aisles of the grocery store and Costco, my keychains loudly proclaiming the fandoms I’m affiliated with. On my main mini bag that I carry around every day, I have keychains of my husbandos, Itachi and Zuko. I’ve added Xiao to the backpack. I added the Genshin Impact spear to my Lululemon Everywhere belt bag. My Hydro Jug bag holds the Zhongli keychain. I’m still deciding where to put the Xiangling keychain.
Stickers
I got the Xiao sticker for free when I bought the Xiao keychain and the original art sticker from another seller. On my iPad, I have the Xiao sticker, and on my hard drive, I have the original art sticker.
Snacks
That weekend, I became Pocky crazy. Adding to my Anime North haul, I ate a lot of Onigiri, Pocky (the sakura/matcha one is different), Puccho soda candy, and Sailor Moon lychee soda. And I actually liked the lychee soda.
What are some things you like to purchase at anime or cmic conventions?
