Lately, God has been pushing me to say yes to the unexpected. Habits and routines are my things. Routines are calming for me. Do I stick to them consistently? Absolutely not. And do I beat myself over it? Absolutely.
Sometimes, doing the unexpected, being spontaneous, and saying yes to what you usually say no to, can have amazing results.
There are so many things I’m scared of and are outside of my comfort zone. However, I told myself at the beginning of last year that 2022 would be a year of transition. Transitions are difficult.
All the walls I’ve built for myself to live my life as it is today will be a home I’m leaving behind for a more meaningful one. But how do you get to that point? By saying yes to the unexpected. We make our plans and God laughs. His plan is to interrupt, or rather reroute our plans in order to accomplish the unexpected in our lives.
Will our plans be fulfilled? Yes, if they’re reliable, they will, but never in the way you expect. Never. It’s because God has to get the credit. We can credit our success to ourselves if things go our way. But if they go God’s way, and it’s unexpected, then God gets the credit. He makes what seems impossible possible, and it’s all impossible in our strength.
I want to remind myself to say yes more in this new season of my life. In order to make room for new people to enter my life, I’ve said no a lot and removed the status other people had in my life. Trying to live with no expectations and saying yes to the unexpected.
