On May 21, 2017, I went to Indigo CF Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke, Ontario to meet Sarah J. Maas – the author of the Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses series. When I saw that this incredible writer was coming to Toronto, I crossed the 21st off on my calendar with the goal of meeting her face to face, and that is exactly what I did.

Waiting in Line

My first impression as I walked towards the (long) 7:00 AM book signing line was, “Wow! This line is so well organized.”I was worried that I would have to Game of Thrones and fight my way through the entrance as soon as the bookstore opened in order to get a golden ticket to meet Sarah J. Maas.

Instead, I calmly walked towards the back of the line around 7:00 AM and an Indigo employee cheerily gave me my golden ticket for being within the 250 maximum.

My friend, Elora and I were exuberated by the fact that we were guaranteed a chance to meet her. We met new friends in this line and talk for 3-4 hours about everything and nothing.

I think it’s safe to say that this is a memory that many of us will never forget. It was a wonderful day. left feeling satisfied and honored to have met new friends and such an amazing author and soul.

Also, shout out to Sarah J. Maas for not only loving Hayao Miyazaki but also ZUTARA (Zuko x Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender), the best ship ever. We have the same OTP and we’re fangirling about it.
