Last week I went to Muskoka with my small group, Mustard Seed, for the Adventist Christian Fellowship Conference. The conference was held at Camp Frenda beside Muskoka Late in Ontario, Canada.
The theme of the conference was discipleship defined. Discipleship is key to our walk with Christ and growing as a Christian.
When we have a mentor to disciple us, our faith grows. Likewise, we should be a mentor to someone else and disciple them.
In the most organic way, discipleship starts with you sharing your story. We all have been through hard times. The struggles we have faced in life create who we are today.
When we share our story, it can resonate with people we’d never expect it to resonate with. This opens the doors for bonds to be created with a variety of people.
The other key component in discipleship is allowing our life story to be written by God. Our journey is unpredictable. That’s why it’s a journey.
The only person who knows the beginning and end of our journey is Jesus, who is also the author and finisher of our faith. Therefore, He writes our story. As our story unfolds, we need to put our trust in God to write it for us and make it brilliant.
The speaker at the conference kept repeating that when Jesus writes our story, it becomes a bestseller.
That was definitely my favourite punchline from the four days at the retreat.
Creating Togetherness
The retreat had a variety of activities to encourage bonding amongst the young adults there. For example, tobogganing, a hike, games nights, and workshops.

The Food
As some of you know, I’m a pescatarian who tries to be dairy-free (sometimes). I was concerned if there would be options for my dietary requirements, but all of the food was vegetarian and vegan so it was super easy to eat there.
There was a lot of food like pizza, lasagna, apple crumble, sorbets, and Mexican food.
Overall, the four days spent in Muskoka was a good opportunity to get away from Toronto, define discipleship and explore Ontario’s winter wonderland.
